How to prepare surface information for a post-construction walkthrough

A post-construction walkthrough helps you and your cleaning provider understand which surfaces need attention and what materials are involved. Glass

Note the glass surfaces — windows, doors, partitions, and mirrors. Identify whether they are interior or exterior, and whether they have protective films or coatings. that require care. Describe any visible residue — adhesive from protective coverings, labels, or construction dust. Glass is generally durable, but coatings and films may be sensitive. Cabinetry

Identify the cabinetry material — wood, laminate, thermofoil, or painted finishes. Note whether the cabinets have protective coverings that should be removed and whether the finish requires a curing period. Describe any visible residue on cabinet surfaces. Share manufacturer care instructions if available, as some finishes are sensitive to certain products.

Counters

Identify the countertop material — natural stone, quartz, laminate, solid surface, or stainless steel. Natural stone and some engineered surfaces may have sealers that require care. Note whether a sealer was applied and whether it needs curing time. Describe any visible residue or marks. Fixtures

Note the fixtures — faucets, handles, lighting, and bathroom fixtures. Identify the materials — chrome, brushed nickel, stainless steel, or other finishes. Describe any visible residue, water spots, or installation marks. Some fixtures have protective films that should be removed carefully. Share any manufacturer care guidance for new fixtures.

Floors

Identify the flooring material — tile, wood, laminate, vinyl, sealed concrete, or natural stone. Note whether the floor has a protective covering that needs removal and whether the finish requires curing time. Describe the visible condition — dust, debris, residue, or scuffs.
